Primed for opportunity

'Opportunity does not wake up those that are asleep,' so the old Senegalese proverb goes.

As an African company, we understand that all too well. If you are prepared, agile and alert to the prospect of opportunity, you will see it as it arises and be ready to take advantage of it.

Despite another challenging year for all businesses maintaining operations during the pandemic, we at Reinsurance Solutions Intermediary Services have thrived. We adapted the way we worked to look for, and be primed for, opportunity.

Not only were we able to personally visit some of our Southern African clients for the first time since we opened our doors, as lockdown regulations allowed, but we successfully signed new business.

We are proud to welcome our first big South African treaty company to the RSIS fold, and look forward to working with this well-known firm. We also recently facilitated two ground-breaking marine and engineering insurance deals in Mozambique linking South African insurers with African customers. These are overwhelmingly positive milestones, given the environment within which the African insurance sector is currently working.

We also continued to connect with new African and international partners, specifically a host of leading natural disaster catastrophe modelling companies. This has significantly enhanced our analytics offering, particularly as it relates to Southern African catastrophes.

On the media front we hosted two successful webinars that were well-attended by peers from across our sector, and I was invited to comment on kidnap and ransom insurance in an interview on eNCA.

We also launched our website www.reinsurancesa.co.za featuring full details of our products and strategic approach to reinsurance, as well as industry insights shared through our updated news articles. 

Our tightknit team of brokers has performed incredibly well this year, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our clients who have helped us achieve this success.
